Isatis tinctoria, also called woad, dyer's woad, or glastum, One of my favourite plants as it smells divine, attract many bees and other insects, is easy to grow, very very useful as a dye (blue) or as a medicine for the flu. Easy to grow. Biennual. Leaves the first year and flowers the second. Amazing seed heads for flower arrangers too. Quite tall, 1m or higher.
A flowering plant in the family Brassicaceae. It is occasionally known as Asp of Jerusalem. Woad is also the name of a blue dye produced from the leaves of the plant. Grows from 50cm to 1m, smells beautiful. A radiant, insect nurturing hardy biannual. It has very long interesting history as an economically powerful plant used to make a blue dye and also as a remedy for Flu.
