July-Sept 2011 saw Lots of rain, occasional sun, fun and much progress.
Midway through August saw us getting electricity and a telephone line. Neither particularly interesting in themselves, but they do make life a little easier. It means I can do this little website for instance. I still cannot have a shower, or get water out of a tap though and toilet is still a hole in the ground. We have made some wonderful additions to the landscape. Still waiting for the warrant from planning! The standing stones are awesome, the two little lakes which tumble one into the other over rocks are a delight and reflect the sky and attract the birds who swoop and sing over them. Life in the big shed where we have installed a temporary kitchen is a little drafty but spacious and convenient and has a gorgeous view of Loch Linnhi and the hills of Morven. We tend to to retreat to the little hut at night as it has a wood burning stove and is cozy Negotiating from the big shed to the little hut in the rain and the dark is sometimes a bit of an obstacle course with sheep and cattle chewing the cud all around. On clear nights though the stars are wonderful and the stillness breathes. Island life is very busy with a ceilidh almost every week, concerts, dinner parties, the art and photography exhibition, the sports day (see tug of war above) and the raft race, which caught a very sunny day. Exhausting! Who said, "What will you do on an island with no pub, hotel, shops, television, cinema, theatre.....?"
